It's tee ball time in Tennessee

I just wanted to share this with you...My nephew, who is four (4) , is on a tee ball team this year. His mom and dad are coaching him and 6 other four year olds. I am also lucky enough to be drafted as a helper. Last night we had our first actual game, and let me tell you it was the funniest thing I have ever watched.

They haven't quite got the hang of hitting the ball and running to bases, just yet. They hit the ball and help the other team run down the ball. They are so cute and work so hard. I think it is wonderful of my sister and her husband, plus all the other coaches, who are taking time out of their busy lives, to allow these kids to get out and work as a team and have FUN!

Those kids done an excellent job for what little practice they have had. If you have never been to a tee ball game, schedule one in, I promise you will relax and enjoy the show immensely.

I will have pictures of one of the games soon.

Always in my heart, never forgotten

Taken from us too soon by cancer

Summer - When will it get here????

HOW MUCH MORE COLD WEATHER IS THERE???

Believe it or not warmer weather is just around the corner. We have had several days of nice 70 degree weather, but it was inevitable that we get another cold snap before balmy weather sets in for good. Actually here on the mountain we will have 3 cold snaps before spring is officially over! There are three "winters" that we experience during springtime; dogwood winter, blackberry winter, and whippoorwill winter.

Dogwood winter sets in as soon as the Dogwood trees start to bloom out. Every year, no matter if 80 degrees temps are prevailing, as soon as the Dogwood starts to bloom there will be a brief cold snap, then temps warm up again. We are experiencing Dogwood winter now.

Blackberry winter comes usually around the 1st or 2nd week in May. When the blackberry bushes start to bloom out, here again, we will have another cold snap. Be sure to cover all flowers and plants because sometimes a frost will develop from the cold nighttime temperatures. The cold snap will last a couple of days up to a week and then the temps will start to rise.

Last, but not least is Whippoorwill winter. This is the last cold snap that we will experience before the warm temps are here to stay. This usually comes last of May to the first of June. Not as cold as the other two "winters", but temps do cool off somewhat.

A Desperate Plea for Business

What a title for a blog...Well the fact is that is what this blog is about. I am pleading for your business! Do I sound completely desperate? Good! I have never groveled for business before, actually I have never had to. But with gas prices soaring, food prices unbelievable, and the media scaring the heck out the public, I figured now was as good as time as any to BEG for business.

I could tell you that I am the BEST REALTOR anywhere, (I am pretty darn good), I could tell you how long I have been in this business, (a long time), or I could tell you that I am as honest as they come (no, really I am). But let us not beat around the bush! Let's lay it out all on the table. I have one child graduating 22 days from now, heading to college in the fall. I have another child just turned 16 and begging me for a car (with car and insurance we are looking at the same cost as the tuition for college!) So in order to pay for my children's education and driving, I need your listings and I need buyer's to sell the houses to!

So what type of marketing strategy can I come up with that would entice buyer's and seller's to contact me to help them. Hmmmmmm, let's try the begging approach! I hope you do not think I am completely nuts for begging for business, but I figured why not, it couldn't hurt!

So what all this boils down to, is 'PICK ME, PICK ME' let me assist you with all your real estate needs!

Get prepared for emergencies...

How prepared are you really, for an emergency?

Having two teenager drivers in my family, I am constantly worried about them being out at night driving or any other time for that matter. Any number of things can happen and I want them to be prepared as best as possible. So the following list is what I make sure are in their cars at all times.

  • Booster Cables
A can of fix a flat
    A blanket
    Flashlight w/batteries
    A small first aid kit
    An emergency phone number list

Do you have an emergency box at home? It is essential to have an emergency box, located where everyone in the house can find it. The following are some ideas of what you might want to put in your box.

  • Band Aids
    Gauze and tape
    Anti-bacterial ointment or spray
    Ant-itch cream or spray
    Alcohol
    Peroxide
    Instant ice pack

Natural disasters are usually rare, but in the recent years it seems that they are becoming more frequent. Regardless of how often they happen it is always good to be prepared. So in addition to the emergency box here are suggestions that may help out in case you find yourself in a disaster.

  • Fire extinguisher
At least 3 days supply of food
At least 7 days supply of water (you need at least 1 gallon of water per person per day)
    Blankets
    Sleeping bags
Alternative way to cook food (other than electric or gas range)
Alternative heat (other than gas or electric)
    Warm clothes

Accidents or emergencies can arrise at any time and it is always good to be prepared. The above are examples of things that would come in handy just in case something were to happen.

Buyers, Are You Pre-Qualified?

Interest rates are at all time lows, housing prices are falling, it seems to be the perfect time to purchase a home - but what does your credit score have to say about that? Did you also know that the lenders are more strict on qualifying due to low interest rates? More and more I see buyers starting the home buying process by looking at homes. But wouldn't it save you time and heartache if you pre-qualified or was pre-approved for loan before you started looking? I have seen so many disappointed buyers have to walk away from a home they truly loved, because either because of the price or because of credit issues.

Taking the simple step of pre-qualifying for a loan helps you know what price range you can be approved for, what type loan you qualify for, and if there are credit issues that need to be addressed before buying. I suggest to all my buyer's to get pre-qualified. I want to see you obtain the home of your dreams, and not be disappointed by issues that can be resolved before the looking process begins.

Contact me for a list of lenders that will be happy to work with you in pre-qualifying for a loan. Then together we will find the home you have always wanted! I look forward to hearing from you soon!
